Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF)
DIFF - Going into its fourth year, was held under the Honorary Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. DIFF is a not-for-profit cultural event, presented and organized by the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority.
Dubai Film Festival (DIFF) over the years has succeeded in carving a niche among the pantheon of reputed film festivals held across the globe, and one the most renowned international film festivals in the region. Over the years it has succeeded in attracting some of biggest names from major film fraternities across the world.
Reflecting Dubai’s cosmopolitan and multicultural character, the festival showcases a wide selection of features, shorts and documentaries from around the world. The list of Films and Film luminaries which graced DIFF 2010, perhaps marks the coming of age of this festival and underscores Dubai’s increasing prominence as a liberal cultural hub that invites artists of all hue to showcase their works for a truly international audience.
Solutions Provided
- DIFF Mobile Site: A microsite and a part of DIFF main site, compatible with mobile phones. It hosted the list of screenings for DIFF 2010 along with the link that allowed users to download the DIFF mobile application.
- DIFF Mobile Application: This downloadable application was designed for j2Me and blackberry platforms. It provided a real-time update of all screening schedules and venues for DIFF. In addition to the same it had interactive features like “sms a friend” which allowed users to invite friends for specific screening. The application also allowed users to book tickets online from their mobiles.
- CMS: One of the most unique features of this project is the “content management system”. This system gives full access to the client - in this case DIFF - to customize and edit contents on a real time basis, without the user having to download the application repeatedly.
